Within a good dermatological care routine, the green mask is a good home treatment to give the skin additional pampering. Specifically, its objective is to reduce the number of impurities and mitigate excess oil – in skin that has a tendency to produce too much sebum – in order to give a healthier appearance in general.

Green face mask

Mask with clay and honey

Clay is a therapeutic element that has been used in both the cosmetic and alternative medicine fields. In the first, it is considered that it helps to balance the health of the skin and, as we mentioned previously, reduce the number of impurities that it may present.

As honey is also attributed beneficial properties for the skin, it has been chosen as an ingredient to make the green mask. Specifically, it is said to help hydrate the skin, promote the healing of recent wounds, and also repair the skin.

For all the above, it is said that while the clay in the mask absorbs impurities and oil, honey moisturizes and softens in a uniform way.

It is also said the mask would facilitate lymphatic cleansing, as it would improve cellular oxygenation to prevent the signs of premature aging.

Preparation of the green mask

Green clay, which is the main ingredient in this mask, is a cosmetic product that can be easily purchased in herbal stores or pharmacies specializing in natural products.

In this case, we propose combining it with honey, an ingredient that could increase its regenerative and astringent qualities.

Those with dry skin can use oily products such as coconut or rosehip oil. The latter can be used as a replacement for honey from bees, or as a complement.

Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons of green clay (50 g)
  • 1 tablespoon of organic honey (25 g)
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon of coconut oil (5 g)

Process

  • Incorporate the green clay into a clean container.
  • Add the organic honey and mix everything with a silicone or wooden utensil.
  • If you like, add a teaspoon of coconut oil while stirring.
  • In case the product is too dry, moisten it with warm water until it acquires the desired texture.

Application mode

  • In the evening hours, remove make-up from your face and rinse it with warm water.
  • After making sure that it is completely clean, take the necessary amount of the preparation and rub it all over your face.
  • Focus on problem areas like the T-zone and cheeks.
  • Avoid covering the eye area. The mixture can be a bit harsh on this delicate area of the skin.
  • Optionally, extend the mask to the neck and décolleté to take advantage of its anti-wrinkle benefits.
  • Let it dry and act for 30 to 40 minutes.
  • After time, remove it with plenty of warm water.
  • After the treatment, apply hydrating toner or night cream.
  • Its use should be limited to twice a week, since excesses can cause unwanted reactions.

Always do a little allergy test

We recommend that you perform a test on a small area of the skin, before using the green mask on your face. If you notice irritations or allergies, discontinue use.

In case of atopic dermatitis or some other skin disorder, always consult with your dermatologist before applying any type of product or home remedy. Otherwise, you risk adverse reactions.
