What Drinks Make Us Fatter The Most?

Among the less healthy drinks are all those that not only make you fat, but also promote fluid retention, among other issues.

According to what is stated by the World Health Organization (WHO), the ideal is to hydrate daily with water, in sufficient quantity and not only alone, but through the different meals that are made (made up of healthy ingredients, such as are vegetables, for example).

Flavored waters, sugary soft drinks, commercial fruit juices and juices, sweetened infusions, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, among other drinks, are options that, although they may attract attention and promise a thousand benefits, in reality, they are not good for us.

They contain a large amount of sugar, calories and added substances that not only influence our body weight, but also promote all kinds of alterations in the different systems.

As we have already been commenting, soft drinks (even their light  and  zero versions  ) are one of the drinks that contain the highest amount of added sugar, caffeine and other substances that, from a nutritional point of view, do not contribute anything.

Many studies have confirmed that the consumption of soft drinks increases the risk of suffering from obesity at any age. In addition, this has been corroborated by the experts of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition since 2013.

The consumption of carbonated beverages has also been shown to increase the risk of suffering from osteopenia, among other diseases.

In addition to being high in sugar, they also contain excess sodium which, among other things, causes fluid retention and damages the kidney system.

Alcohol, in its different formats, is part of the drinks that make us fat. It only contributes empty calories and, in addition, it affects the health of the liver, among other issues.

When consuming an alcoholic beverage, the liver would try to burn it first. Thus, while dealing with these empty calories, it cannot burn other fats that we consume, thereby slowing down the metabolism. Hence the saying that alcoholic beverages make us fat.

If we add to all this that alcohol tends to increase appetite, we have a higher risk of obesity as a result.

At this point, it is worth remembering that no amount of alcohol is recommended. Drinking a glass of red wine a day or a beer is a myth.

Juices and commercial fruit juices

Not only are commercial fruit juices and juices low in fruit and high in sugar, but they also have a large number of added ingredients that, taken together, are not beneficial to health. For all this, it is best to prepare them at home, with fresh fruits.

The best option will always be water. Now, in case we want to add a different touch, we can add a slice of fresh lemon or orange. Without adding sugar, or else we would be turning the drink into a nonsense.
